"sara's place - sunday" @ 06.05.03
i know it's been a few days since my last entry but really work's been crazy and i haven't had a lot of free-time to write.

-sara's part 4-

sunday morning i woke up much like saturday, with my stomach growling that it was starving 'n that i should feed it asap. thankfully i didn't have to wait too long after waking up because we had to wake up earlier than usual to get ready for church.

so really i only had to wait 15-20 minutes after i woke up to be able to eat, of course i was all dressed up, but hey sometimes you gotta sacrafice. either way, sara and i headed to Le Peep [if that doesn't make you snicker, then i dunno what will cause i sure found it an amusing name] to meet up with wendy where we were all going to eat breakfast.

once again i was struck with the idiot-water syndrome i always seem to get when i go out. this waiter just seemed like a dumb kid from california or something, i so expected him to say "alright dude, hang ten" or something asanine like that. sara n wendy thought he was a gay mafia guy, but i don't think that's true, he's just dumb.

thankfully though our food got to us without indicident and it wasn't too bad. i had a bagel with egg 'n cheese and some bacon, i wish they had ham instead but it seemed like the place was against ham, i didn't remember seeing any item on the menu with ham as an option. sara got some nasty seafood omelet that ugh, no seafood for me thankyouverymuch.

after we finished eating sara and i went off to church. now let me preface this by saying i had heard a lot about this church, because sara's talked about it it. i had also had certain expectations that i figured it'd meeet. well it didn't meet any of them. the place was huge, i mean easily the biggest church i've ever seen.

the service too was so...different to me. i say that because when i've ever gone to church around here, it's been a somber affair, it's almost something people do because they're ashamed, no one says anything to their neighbor, no one looks around, you find your seat, sit down and don't say anything unless it's to sing some psalm or whatever. but at sara's church, it was totally different. it was more a celebration of people's faith, people said stuff to their neighbors [infact a lady infront of sara and i was really getting into it and kept on turning back to us whenever pastor said to say something to your neighbor, i thought it was cute] and it was just..amazing to me. because i hated going to church out here because it was boring, it seemed no one related to what happened in the bible and anything else to your real life and how it could impact you. but that's all that happened at sara's church.

there was a lady behind us that apparently sara knew and i had made a comment to her how i had come to church from 1600 miles away and she asked if i was going to come back to church when i came back in the fall, i told her i most definetly would. because the experience was so...different than anything i had experienced before and i totally enjoyed it.

we left church and i think both of us were...energized coming out of church. myself because it was so different and amazing, sara i think because she saw that i clearly enjoyed it. now we just had to get back home, change our clothes and get over to her friend scottie's graduation party since she said she'd come over for a bit before heading over to her grandparents house.

so we changed and then headed to the graduation party. now this was the one thing i was worried about, because here i'd be thrust into a situation where the only person i knew was sara and i couldn't fake chit-chat with people about their schools or whatever, cause i was clueless. thankfully however, like most people i met this weekend, scottie and his folks and the other people at the party were super nice and i got along awesome. even had a pretty good cheeseburger too. the one slip-up came when sara and i were playing volleyball with three little kids, someone hit the ball pretty far out and i had to chase after it and in my infinite wisdom i figured i might as well try to kick the ball so that it went backwards. well i a] didn't hit the ball and b] slipped on the grass and fell on my ass.

needless to say a certain unnamed party laughed at me for a good 2 minutes [sara elizabeth metzler] after that we kept playing for a few minutes, then sara went to talk to scottie and i think we stayed for all in all a total of 20 minutes.

after we left scottie's party we headed to her folks house to pick up some berries for a berry-salad sara was gonna make at her grandparents. i had forgotten to mention this for saturday, but before we went up to the mountains on saturday we had taken tonio's truck out to look for mattresses and in the process i messed up my only pair of pants [and idiot me forgot to bring any shorts], so we had gone to old navy after coming home from church and gotten me pants and a shirt, so by now i had met her dogs. jake was cool, moe was a bit of a spaz, and bud..bud was a little rugrat that barked to be the band, i think to make up for his lack of size.

so thankfully today they weren't too bad. moe and jake accepted me pretty quickly and even bud didn't freak out for super long. either way we got the stuff and headed to her grandparents house. we got there and there wasn't anyone there save for her cousin kevin and his girlfriend christy. sara introduced me to her grandparents and they seemed nice, little more than a minute later i'm pulling some grungy cover off a table and trying to figure out how to blow up fun-island. by now other people are arriving, all the other cousins [lauren, ryan, sadie and charlie] and their parents. thankfully they have a lot more experience with blowing up fun-island than they do and the younger guys did it more than i did, cause i think i messed something up and it felt like i wasn't even getting any air in it.

after we had actually gotten fun-island blown up it meant it was time for king of the island, in which all the guys teamed up, and all the girls teamed up and had to get all of their group on the island while preventing the other team from getting on or pushing them off. i have to say it was fun as anything, but man after i was thrashing around for a few minutes i was totally winded and had to get my breath back, shows just how out of shape i am. after we had played sara told me that the cousins were mad i hadn't played fair. and really i hadn't, cause i kept doing things i thought were legal, and turns out they weren't. and i guess cause iw as the new guy no one understood that when i spazzed out i really didn't care and was just joking, but i think by the end of the night they had forgotten about that cause we talked a bunch.

after we had all decided we were tired and got out of the pool grandma metz got out the food and man, the wings she put out where k-rad, the bbq was pretty good, and i didn't really touch the potatoes cause i'm not a huge potatoe fan. either way i had plenty and was totally full for a good while.

eventually i took my drink and went for a walk behind their house to see this stream i had heard so much about, only to be joined by sara as i was heading out. she led me down the trail and we walked hand in hand for most of the time, talking about different things every so often and it was nice. to me it was just she and i walking there, i couldn't hear anything [even if we were close to a major road] it was just us. we walked for maybe 15 minutes or so and eventually headed back to the house.

after that nothing really eventful happened, sara went inside and took a nap, only i didn't know this until pretty late because i was talking with the cousins [sadie and lauren really] about the differences between denver and my house, if i enjoyed it out here and whatnot. it was just pretty nice, and i got to see/hear about other things about denver. the one scary part was when pa [grandpa]] came over and pseudo-pushed sadie and laura off the ledge they were sitting on as if he was going to send 'em into the pool. now i had been warned that he liked to have a drink or two, but i didn't expect that to happen, mostly because prior to that he had been arguing with kevin about turning up the music when it wasn't necessary, which i mean is a bit 'normal'. he did it one more time and i dunno, it freaked me out and then we got to talking about what it was like having pa always like that. or how it was so different for me because no one in my family was like that and i wasn't used to having to deal/cope with it, sadie and laura both said that they were so used to it now it didn't seem like anything.

eventually the party wound down and sara and i left to go back to her place and watch 'amelie' [which was suprisingly good], or i should say i watched amelie sara fell asleep. after it was over sara was sleeping so good, and seemed peaceful [aside from her random twitching] that i told her to stay there since she was sleeping good and i'd go sleep in the bed. where i promptly passed out and slept straight on through till morning.

scud.
