first christmas in co @ 12.26.03
i was sitting here tonight, watching my homicide season 3 dvd's [which i got for christmas (thanks mom 'n dad)] and i realized just how awesome the show is. when it's storylines move you to think about yourself and the world around you, you know it's quality programming.

i know i've gone on and on about the show, but i could honestly probably watch every eposide of it whenever i turned on the tv, and i'd still love it. i know i've seen some of these episodes, but it's still engrossing as hell.

either way this year was my first christmas away from home and grandma's house. it was weird, to say the least. it wasn't bad, so much as just vastly different. whereas i'm used to opening stuff early and then walking over to auntie's house we didn't do that at all. sara 'n i opened our presents to each other then spent the next few hours trying to wrap everything else for the rest of the family and finally at around 3 we went to her grandma's. in our family we don't have a lot of kids left so it's mainly the older folks opening stuff at aunties. so everything gets sorted by person and one by one we go down from oldest to youngest with one person opening up their presents. at sara's it's mostly the kids who open stuff up and they do it all in one big mass opening. it was kind of nice to get things over in a few minutes, but different cause you didn't really get to see what other people got, which is almost as much fun as opening your own presents.

it was also different simply because of the fact that there are more 'younger' adults so we all got together and played catchphrase and a new version of uno. both were insanely fun and passed a lot of time, but when i think of christmas i don't think of playing funny games with the cousins.

also, after calling my family earlier in the day i came to find out that they got some snow at grandma's, and here it was about 50 this afternoon. which is way way way too warm for christmas day, it's supposed to be bone-chilling cold damnit.

so yea, that was my first christmas here in colorado.
